Hello from us!

Well, what a strange and funny term it has been. We are all missing you lots and are hoping that you are keeping busy, staying safe and being very good for your grown ups.

A huge thank you to the children in Year 2 for creating this beautiful display at the front of school.

Messages from the Year 2 Team

Dear Year 2,

It’s a strange thing, sitting here writing this to you all, sat at home, when the truth is I’d love to be sat in front of you saying these things to you in our classroom. But things aren’t quite the same at the moment, things are a little different , but I am still here for you and have been thinking about you all lots over the past 3 weeks.

I hope that you are having a lovely time at home, spending time with your families and doing really well with your learning. I know that you will have all been trying really hard to show your adults what amazing work you can do and just how much progress you’ve made this year so far.

I’ve been keeping an eye on spelling and maths shed and can see that lots of you have been playing games to practice your spelling rules, addition, subtraction, times tables and division. Well done for this! If you haven’t been on yet, here’s the link: https://play.edshed.com/ I’ll be looking to see which class have the most points!!

Easter is now upon us, so take this time to relax, do some crafts, help out in the garden, play board games, do a jigsaw and of course, if possible, eat some chocolate!

I miss you lots and can’t wait to see you all again very soon!

Just a little note from Miss Burton to remind you that:

I cannot wait to see you all back at school soon! Keep working hard, keep smiling and stay safe!

Dear Year 2

I never thought I would be writing to you like this but I hope that you are all keeping healthy and that you are helping your adults with your learning – remember you are the expert!

We are all living through history so let’s make sure that we remember it by spending time with our family, supporting each other and thanking those who are working so hard to keep us safe and well. Could you write a diary, create a time capsule or make a film? You are part of history!

I can’t wait to hear what you have all been up to and am looking forward to seeing you all again very soon. Remember that after the storm comes the rainbow. Miss you all.

Dear Year 2,

I hope you are all safe and well at home and enjoying extra time with your families. I am missing each and every one of you and I can’t wait to hear all of your wonderful news as soon as we return to school. I am definitely missing reading about what Moonface and Saucepan Man have been up to and I cannot wait to begin reading our next class book ‘The Enchanted Wood’ with you all. It’s sitting on my coffee table waiting for you!

Remember, as the song goes; “When there’s nobody out to play, I will still have a lovely day. They joy within me will always stay and I’ll be OK.”

 See you soon!

Miss Knott

Here are a few of the fantastic things we got up to this half term:

Commando Jane

This term the children have learnt a lot from their 3 weeks with Commando Jane. From saving endangered animals to collecting food for their teams, the children have put 100% in to their challenges. Not only have they completed their missions, but at the same time they have developed their Seven Steps skills. With a little imagination you could set up your own missions at home, for example, you could use plastic balls as animal eggs, treasure or even obstacles in the jungle. Don’t forget to take some pictures of your missions and tweet them for us to see. Tag us so that we don’t miss them: https://twitter.com/Phoenix_Wyken

World Book Day

The children loved coming in to school in their World Book Day outfits and they really enjoyed reading with other children in school. It was lovely to spend time in the reading areas around school and in particular the reading nooks which are now full of fantastic new books to read!

During the week, lots of the children took part in a sponsored read or listen at home. The children who took part in this raised, along with the contribution from Usborne, a WHOPPING £1360!! Take a look at the books we chose:

They’ll be ready for you when we come back to school!

English

The children worked incredibly hard in the last 3 weeks to learn about ‘non-chronological reports’. They found out the features, learnt new writing skills and then applied these to write reports about castles. They did a fantastic job and we are very proud on them for the progress they have all made in their writing. You could ask them to show you by writing a report at home about anything they are interested in, for example, dinosaurs, Coventry or even toys! Once again, please share these with us on Twitter so that we get to see all the fantastic work you are doing at home! https://twitter.com/Phoenix_Wyken
