Spring Term Sport
This is a blog to celebrate all of the fantastic sporting events and competitions that have gone on over the Spring Term.
Firstly, a BIG thank you to Mr Bowerman for supporting with football at lunchtimes. The extra support is having a huge impact on lunchtimes and the children are thoroughly enjoying the extra coaching and guidance.
We had a fantastic day supporting and celebrating Sport Relief this year. Collaboratively, as a school we managed to completed over 220,00 star jumps throughout the day and raised an amazing £883.93 which all went to Sport Relief. Well done to everyone who contributed and got active!
Year 4 are still enjoying The Daily Mile, running during the morning periods to help us to get active and feel ready to learn. Year 6 have also begun to make this part of their routine and are already seeing the benefits. We are looking to get more year groups running soon!
Another thank you to Game-On who run our after school clubs! It is clear that the children enjoyed the extra-curricular physical activities. The coaches have been great and it has been brilliant to see the children showing off their new skills.
A MASSIVE thank you to Mr Brown and Mr Vernon who have put a lot of effort and time into the Boys’ Football Team. The team has played many games this term and are dedicated to their training which they attend on a weekly basis. We are all proud of you for representing our school and working as such a resilient, collaborative team.
We also need to thank Mr Shaw for running our first Tag Rugby Club! He has a great team who recently came 2nd in the first competition together! Well done to all of the children who attend.
Well done to Miss Burton and the Netball Team! I know your skills are progressing each week and you are all enjoying being part of a team!
Lastly, a thank you and a well done to Miss Hitchcox, Miss Todd and the Girls’ Football Team! The girls have already won many matches this term- we are excited to see what they can do in the future!
Lastly, we have taken part in rowing, boccia, archery and gymnastics competitions this term. We would like to say a huge well done to all of the children that have been involved in these competitions and a thank you for representing Wyken Croft- we are very proud of you! A special Well done to the Boccia Team who came second and the Year 2 Gymnastics Team who made it through to the Level 3 County finals!
We are always looking for more children to join teams or extra-curricular clubs so if you are interested, please see one of the PE Team or speak to the office for more details.
Well done to everyone who is keeping active and making it part of their lifestyle, it is so important that we keep healthy by keeping our bodies active.
